Our commitment to caring for your pet
At Dognanny, we care deeply about all animals and how they are treated.
We know that your pet is your world, and we are committed to upholding the highest level of animal care standards.
Clients often tell us that they need someone kind, dedicated, and caring – someone who can step into their shoes and give their pet the same love and care that they do. And that’s exactly what we aim for.
Your pet is loved and cared for from the moment we step through the door.
We cherish them as much as you do.
Caring for your Pet, The Dognanny Way

We strongly believe in building deep and lasting bonds with animals and caring for them in a way that suits their unique characteristics.
Our way is gentle and nurturing.
At Dognanny, we know your dog isn’t just a pet—they’re family.
Our Animal Welfare Promise is our heartfelt commitment to safeguard the wellbeing, happiness, and comfort of every dog and companion animal in our care. Whether we’re offering gentle dog walks, thoughtful pet sitting visits, or simply keeping a watchful eye while you’re away, our mission is to provide a service rooted in kindness, safety, and deep respect for each animal’s unique needs.
We want you to feel completely reassured, supported, and confident that your beloved companion is in the very best hands.
A Safe Experience – Every Single Time

Your dog (or cat’s) safety is at the centre of everything we do. We listen carefully to your needs so if there are any worries you have – such as keeping your cat an indoor cat or keeping your dog safe on walks – we will work with you to ensure all your requests are met.
Your dog’s safety is our priority
Your dog’s safety is at the centre of everything we do.
- We choose calm, dog-friendly walking routes and avoid stressful environments.
- Dogs are only walked off-lead with your explicit permission and only in secure, suitable areas.
- Our team is trained to recognise signs of stress, discomfort, or potential danger—so we can respond quickly and compassionately.
- We are trained in Canine First Aid and carry a Canine First Aid kit to all walks and house sits.
We treat every walk and visit like we’re caring for our own cherished pets.
Kind, Positive Handing – Never Force or Fear

At Dognanny, all care is rooted in positive reinforcement, patience, and gentle guidance.
- No harsh methods.
- No fear-based handling.
- No exceptions.
With a background in assistance dog handling theories, we follow the same handling and training methods that guide and assistance dogs use, which is all firmly rooted in building a relationship with the dog and building positive associations.
We adapt our approach for each dog’s personality—from excitable puppies to shy rescues, confident adventurers to elderly dogs who simply need a soft voice and a slow, steady walk.
Every pet deserves to feel safe, respected, and understood.
Personalised Care for Every Animal we Meet

There is no one-size-fits-all approach to animal care—so we tailor everything.
- Walks that match your dog’s pace, fitness, and preferences.
- Breed specific exercise and enrichment – if your working breed dog needs mental enrichment as well as a walk, we can tailor their walks to include some training. Equally, if you have a flat nosed breed such as a bulldog, we can tailor their walk to include some rest stops to avoid overheating.
- Pet sitting that follows your home routine closely—meals, medication, naps, comforts.
- Warm companionship for pets who need a little extra reassurance while you’re away.
Whether we’re playing, walking, cuddling, feeding, or simply keeping gentle company, we nurture every pet with the same love and care you would.
If your dog needs support to continue to learn a behaviour, e.g. walking to heel on a lead, or stopping them from jumping up – just ask.
High Health & Hygiene Standards

We maintain a clean, safe environment for all pets by:
- Sanitising equipment such as food and water dishes – we wash your pet’s bowls after every meal whilst we pet sit in your own home, and provide fresh towels to dry your pet if they get wet on a walk.
- Checking ears, paws, and everywhere else for grass seeds or road grit
- Gently washing mud off your pet and wiping their paws to ensure they are clean and healthy
- Providing fresh water, rest breaks, and weather-appropriate care
- Monitoring for any changes in behaviour or wellbeing
- Contacting you immediately if something doesn’t seem right
- Keeping your pet’s vet details and insurance on file, just in case of illness, and we will act on your behalf if needed
From warm coats in winter to paw checks in summer, your dog’s comfort is always protected.
Trained, Insured, Compassionate Professional Care

Dognanny was founded by Cat Oliver – a former animal sanctuary worker, RSPCA volunteer, and primary school teacher.
Cat’s dedication to caring for others – both people and animals – feeds through into everything that she does for the animals she cares for at Dognanny.
Dognanny is fully insured as a business, all staff (it’s just Cat, currently – though look out for new faces soon!) hold a Level 3 Qualification in Canine First Aid, and carry a canine First Aid kit. All staff are DBS checked – and you are more than welcome to request to see documentation during the Meet & Greet session.
Cat has a vast knowledge of dog breeds and animal care, and writes regular updates about dog care on the Dognanny Journal. She also is curating a full dog breed guide on the Dognanny Dog Breed A-Z – where you can find out all the pros and cons of every dog breed.
We regularly attend dog shows and Crufts to keep our knowledge of the dog world up to date, as well as connecting with other dog professionals from all over the world to consult over special cases.
You can learn more about Cat and her passion for animals on our About page.
Open, Reassuring Communication

When you book with us, we understand how vulnerable it can feel to entrust your pet to someone else. And we know it can feel odd to have someone else working in your home.
That’s why we keep you informed with:
- Clear, honest updates
- Photos or notes during or after visits
- Immediate communication if we notice anything unusual
- Location sharing data when we take your dog out, so you can see where your dog is
- Total respect for your instructions and preferences
You deserve peace of mind—and we’re here to provide it.
Our Promise to You and Your Pet

When you choose Dognanny, you’re choosing more than a dog walking or pet sitting service.
You’re choosing a gentle hand, a kind heart, and a team dedicated to your pet’s happiness, health, and emotional wellbeing.
We promise to treat every dog with compassion.
We promise to uphold the highest welfare standards.
And we promise to care for your pet as though they were our own—every walk, every visit, every day.
